CLIENT HEALTH AND SAFETY
Prior to returning for sessions/classes, clients must review and sign a COVID 19 Client Notice.
All services must be provided by appointment only. There will be session and class capacity limits in place. In addition, sessions/classes must be spaced apart to allow for facility/equipment cleaning between sessions and facilitate social distancing. Therefore, you may be asked to modify your standard appointment time. Trainers will work with their clients to confirm/coordinate appointments. Please, do not show up to a session/class unannounced. It will be important for clients to attend their scheduled sessions or provide 24 hour cancellation per DF's normal policy.
Clients should stay home if:
1. They feel ill.
2. Have a temperature.
3. Someone in their house is sick.
4. They have allergies and cannot control sneezing or coughing.
Prior to each session/class, a client wellness screening will be performed to check for exposure and COVID 19 symptoms. Clients will have their temperature taken (if infrared thermometer available). Wellness screening questions:
Cough
Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
Unexplained fatigue
Unexplained headache
Muscle or body aches
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose (different from seasonal allergies),
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Face masks and social distancing (6 ft) are required when not exercising. Please see the Personal Training and Group Classes section for requirements during exercise. Exceptions can be made for those with medical conditions that prevent the client from safely wearing a face covering. Face masks will be made available to clients if they do not have their own or did not bring their own.
Clients should sanitize or wash their hands when arriving and leaving the facility, after using the restroom, after blowing nose/coughing/sneezing. Clients should cover their coughs and sneezes.
Client should bring their own towels, water, and lifting gloves (if used).
At this time, locker rooms and shower will be closed. Please bring a gym bag or tote to store your belongings.
While the bathrooms have multiple stalls, to facilitate proper distancing they will be single occupancy for the time being. Clients should use the Occupied signs on the bathroom doors to indicate the restroom is in use.

Waiting/Reception Area
- Social distancing of 6 ft should be maintained in the waiting area.
- During Phase 3, group classes must be held outdoors. We ask that if you need to bring family along to wait during your class (i.e. children), the family member(s) wait outdoors as well. There are areas where a lawn chair/blanket can be set up.
Personal Training And Group Classes
Personal Training may be held indoors. Group Classes must be held outdoors.
Capacity LImits
Personal Training may be held indoors. Group Classes must be held outdoors.
Capacity LImits
- Personal Training Sessions: No more than 3 personal training sessions will be held concurrently indoors.
- Group Classes: The state guideline permits 10 clients. However, in order to properly execute all the guidelines, Design Fitness will try to limit to 6.
- Personal Training Sessions: If simultaneous indoor sessions are being held, social distancing of 10ft is maintained between individual workout stations. The client's exercise space will be marked (i.e. with a cone).
- Group Classes: Social distancing of 10ft is maintained between individual exercise stations. The client's exercise space will be marked (i.e. with a cone). If more than one group class is being held, 30 feet of distancing is maintained between groups.
- Personal training sessions: BEST practice is for clients to wear a face covering during the session. However, state guidelines allow for clients to remove their face covering while exercising. Face coverings are required when not exercising. Face Coverings are worn by the trainer during the session.
- Group Classes: Face coverings do not need to be worn outdoors by trainers and clients during group classes - as long as proper social distancing occurs. Face coverings are worn when not exercising.
- Equipment must not be shared between members at the same time unless they are from the same household (i.e. tossing med ball to one another). If a piece of equipment needs to be used by multiple clients during an exercise session/class, it must be thoroughly cleaned between clients (i.e. rower/punching bag).
- If using equipment outside of a personal training/group class, clients should clean their equipment before and after (i.e. use of a treadmill prior to personal training session).
